Résumé
The Shifters, 2010-2011
The Ambitions, 2005-2010
Bass player for the mod/soul influenced Ambitions. With Sean Hissey and Caz Gardiner of the Checkered Cabs, and Kelly Marshall, formerly of Eastern Standard Time. The band at one time also included Brad Wynn of Downbeat Rulers and Firecorner (now Pressure Sounds), as well as Dan McNabb of The Reflections, now playing with The BreakUps. Played bass in the five-song-EP CD “The Ambitions”
City Lights, The City Paper, Vol. 26 No. 1 January 6-12, 2006:
“Another night at the local indie-rock club, another disaffected 20-something wailing out his childhood abandonment issues, Yawn. Break the angry/depressed monotony with the D.C.-based Ambitions. The band’s music is as fun and retro as lead singer Caz Gardiner’s mod shift dresses. Keeping with the group’s tried-and-true 60s style, Gardiner sings about such simple things as the quest for the perfect dancehall and the perfect cutie: “You’re the boy I pine for/You’re the dream that every girl wants to dream/ You’re like a star I wish for/I wish for you, you know just what I mean.” The lyrics aren’t going to win any Billboards, but they’re merely an accompaniment to catchy pop music guaranteed to get your hips swinging, even in the post-holiday lull. So lighten up and check your daddy problems at the door when the Ambitions play with the Five Maseratis at 9 p.m. on the Black Cat’s backstage.”
